Summer Sports Biz Classes @ UW-Whitewater

Hey SBC!

Check out 2 classes on sports biz being offered at UW-Whitewater this summer. They were recommended to us, and are being taught by, a prior SBC speaker Dr. Kristina Navarro.

RECREATION 388/688-Special Event Management in Sport and Recreation  
This course examines the process of developing local, national and international events in sport and recreation.  This course addresses and applies skills and knowledge required by professionals involved in the sport and recreation industry. Learning objectives include conceptualizing an event, managing an event, staffing an event, operating and managing an event budget, developing sponsorships, managing facility operations and developing proposed risk management protocols.  Learning objectives will be addressed through readings, lectures, and a culminating group event management assignment.

RECREATION 489/689-Management of Sport and Recreation Programs
This course examples concepts in the areas of human resources, facility operations, budget development, marketing, public relations, policy development, and program service design for sport and recreation managers.   Learning objectives will be addressed through readings, lectures, and a culminating group program assignment pertaining to a program of persona interest in sport and recreation.
